Bali Implements Comprehensive Checks for Tourist Levy Vouchers

The Bali Tourism Office has announced an expansion in the enforcement of the tourist levy voucher system. Initially focused at Bali’s entry points, including airports and sea ports, the checks will now extend to various tourist destinations across the island, aligning with the regional and governor’s regulations.

This update comes from Tjok Bagus Pemayun, the Head of the Bali Provincial Tourism Office, during a press briefing on Monday, February 26th. The announcement was made following a meeting with representatives from relevant agencies and tourism associations, preparing for the systematic checking of Tourist Levy Vouchers.

Starting in May 2024, three months after the implementation of the tourist levy program, the checks will become a regular occurrence. Destinations across Bali will see at least weekly inspections to ensure compliance with the levy payment.

Tjok Bagus emphasized the importance of these checks: “We are committed to regular monitoring to uphold the law, ensuring tourists have fulfilled their levy obligations.” He added that compliant tourists could enjoy their visit without interruption, while those who haven’t paid will be prompted to do so on-site.

To avoid any inconvenience during their stay, Tjok Bagus advises all international visitors to settle their levy payments before arrival online via a tourist tax agency like “Treasure Bali”. This precaution ensures a smooth and enjoyable holiday experience in Bali.

Furthermore, travel agents and tour guides are encouraged to remind tourists about the levy and assist with the payment process if needed. The Bali Province Tourism Civil Service Police Unit will conduct random checks at tourist spots, underscoring the necessity for all visitors to have their levy vouchers ready.

This move signifies Bali’s dedication to maintaining a sustainable tourism model, where the contributions from tourists directly support the preservation of the island’s cultural and natural heritage.
